A while back we wrote about the expansion of Pre-Check by the TSA, as it turns out the TSA has seen success with Pre-Check and they are rolling it out to more airports. First of all for those that don’t know what Pre-Check is, here’s a general overview. The PreCheck program allows fliers to go through security without removing their shows, belts and jacket. Also, laptops can stay in their bag along with TSA approved liquids. The program is available to certain frequent fliers (assuming the ones that travel very often) from Delta and American Airlines. It’s also available to certain members of Customs and Border Protection and Trusted Traveler Programs including SENTRI, Global Entry and Nexus. For more information on the program head on over here.
The latest news says that since October 2011 over 640,000 travelers have been scanned through Pre-Check. The TSA is now expanding Pre-Check to more airports and more airlines including Alaska Airlines, United Airlines and US Aiways.
